Lotte Friis was born in 1988 and is one of Denmarks biggest swimming stars. But it wasn't always in the cards that she would become that. When she was younger she played badminton and did athletics but as the years went by she realised that swimming was her call.
In 2011 she changed club from Sigma Allerod to Herlev Swimming Club where she became the first Danish swimmer with a professional contract.
Lotte Friis had her major breakthrough in 2008 where she won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2009 she continued her impressive results when she set the World Record in 1500m. freestyle on short course.
Since 2009 she has won many medals both at the European- and World Championships.
In September 2013 Lotte Friis moved to Baltimore, USA where she
trained with the club Olympic Nice Natation as a preperation for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
She explained that the move has helped her a lot beacuse of the different mentality and approach that the Americans have to their training.
Unfortunately the Olympics did not go as planned for Lotte Friis and she annouced that it was her last Olympic Games in her career. She has now participated in three Olympic Games - Beijing, London and Rio.
