Soren Lerby was a left-footed midfielder who was always committed and a leader of the team. He got his senior debut with Fremad Amager and in November 1975 as only 17 years old he moved abroad to the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam. During his 6 years long stay at Ajax Amsterdam he won three Dutch Eredivisie League titles and became captain of the team.
In 1983 he moved to Germany where he played for Bayern Munich for three successful years.
He won two German Bundesliga titles and two FFB Pokal Cup trophies.
He left Bayern Munich in 1986 and continued his career in France for team AS Monaco but after a year he went back to the Netherlands and started playing for PSV Eindhoven. He stayed there for three years and he ended his career here. During his time at PSV Eindhoven he won the European Cup.
