Thorbjorn Olesen started playing golf at the age of 7 in Vaerlose Golf Club, he became a professional golf player in 2008, and had his international breakthrough at the age of 22 when he in 2012 won his first European Tour title; the Sicilian Open. He became the youngest Danish winner on the European Tour ever.
Thorbjorn was awarded 'Golf Player of the Year' in Denmark in 2012, and he won the oldest sports price in Denmark ‘Upcoming Star in Denmark' in 2012.
He won his second European Tour Title in Perth in 2014, and in October 2015 he won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Here he wrote Danish history yet again being the youngest Danish player to win three European Tour titles.
Thorbjorn Olesen was one of the two (Soren Kjeldsen) Danish golfers competing at the Rio Games 2016. No Danish golfers were part of the 1900 and 1904 Olympic Games when golf was last on the Olympic programme.
Later in 2016 Thorbjorn performed outstanding at the Turkish Airlines Open and won his fourth title, now becoming the youngest Dane to win four European Tour titles. Thorbjorn Olesen had a fantastic end to the 2016 season when he and Soren Kjeldsen for the second time in 2016 wrote Danish history together by winning the World Cup of Golf.
Thorbjorn Olesen started the summer 2018 off very well by winning the Italian Open. This was followed by several top positions and resulted in him qualifying for the Ryder Cup 2018 in Paris.
It is Thorbjorn Olesen's first time at Ryder Cup and he is only the third Dane to be part of Team Europe. A historic moment having two Danes on the 2018 team as Thomas Bjorn is the Captain.
Today Thorbjorn is number no. 45 on the Official World Golf Ranking and no. 6 on Race to Dubai 2018.
